Learning about 50′s, 60′s && 70′s Vintage Decor is Thrifty

My boyfriend took me to a (new to me) part of Atlanta yesterday. The Westside.. It’s beautiful! Lots of AMAZING shops and restaurants. We ate at this restaurant slash shop called Star Provisions.

All the shops, cafes and architecture in The Westside Village in Atlanta, Georgia got my wheels turning.

Many may not know this about me.. but, my thrifting specialties are vintage decor from the: 50′s, 60′s && 70′s.

It dawned on me that I know what to look for on my secondhand excursions, but I don’t know the facts.

So get ready thrifty peeps.. The next couple of weeks are going to be educational.

I will be posting all the facts and new knowledge I learn about my favorite interior decorated decades.

We’ll be starting with the 50′s.

Here are some vintage kitchen accessories from a cute Etsy Shop: Retro

&& you know what thrifty discovery I made? Well, that place mats are pretty much the most important part of a meal.

In ode to that edible discovery, here are some excellent Printables- brought to you by this handy site: HANDY SITE

DIY Magazine Is Thrifty

The first slight change in the air that infers a seasonal change can mean a number of things for every individual person.

For me… It means the new DIY Magazine has most likely hit the shelves at Home Depot.

&&& that means I have a date with the written word and a glass of wine.

Next time you are in heaven.. Opps.. Home Depot- Check out DIY Magazine.

It may look like this:

Sharing Your Experiences Is Thrifty

Elsie the owner of one of my FAVORITE thrifty websites, A Beautiful Mess, wrote a heart-warming article about her personal experience starting, owning and operating her very own vintage shop.

My dream is to have my own store one day; full of thrifty things. When I read this, it really hit home and I want to share the great words as well as great imagery with all the thrifty mistresses out there.

Enjoy!

Crown Molding Is Thrifty

Now, that I will be working from home more.. I’m back in thrifty office mode. I brought back all my books from my recent job and realized this thrifty mistress has a lot of books and nowhere to put them.

I immediately became fixated on the idea to do CROWN MOLDING BOOK SHELVES!

Dreams really do come true!

So when my boyfriend gets back in town we are going to do a few and see how it goes.

Here’s an example (except with shoes) found on Houzz.com:

Thrifty!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip Is Yummy, I Mean Thrifty!

I don’t post about recipes that often, simply because I have no time to cook.

&& When I see these edible masterpieces.. tantalizing my taste buds across my favorite blogs.. I go nuts.

Nuts, due to the fact that I have no time to make them.

Then I pray that my local super market will telepathically receive my distant hunger pangs and miraculously add these premade delicacies to their inventory.

Hey! A girl  can dream.
