The Thrifty Mistress Goes On The Map!

Where in the world is The Thrifty Mistress? Well, unfortunately, I am nowhere exotic.

But, I am going on a good ol’ fashion-map-lovin’-totes-obbessed-SPREE.

What better to love then the GREAT, GREEN Earth we live on?

Like Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, once said: “Ma-a-a-a-ps, wait!
They don’t love you like i love you…”

Let’s start from where we began.

Thrifty Storage

I’m a HUGE advocate on thrifty apartment living. If you do, indeed, live in an apartment you probably have issues with these topics: space, walking your dog, carrying your groceries from the parking garage, playing in a lawn sprinkler, and getting surprise visits from your favorite friends. Although, I can’t help you come walk your dog in the morning- I will share with you my favorite thrifty-storage tips! Many of you are probably not as narcotic about organization as I am, but that probably leaves you time to have a life.

Thread you very much!

Chalk paint & Mason jars? Oui, Oui!

Monkey Clippin’ Around.

Shoe Rack in the Kitchen? I find 3 or 4 of these every time I go to a thrift store.

A Thrifty Sorry

Sorry about the lack of updates. I went out of town for a BEAUTIFUL wedding and now, unfortunately, I seemed to have caught a bug. But, I will have updates GALORE when everything is back to normal.

A Thrifty Garden for SPRING!

I live on the 6th floor of an apartment building, in the middle of a city. So, I was TICKLED when I saw DIY palette gardens circulating the web pages of Pinterest. I spent the whole season of spring last year contemplating how to facilitate a garden on my balcony, that before I knew it spring was over; && I was just left with few dead herbs.

This is year be different, thrifter, with tons of photosynthesis!

Palettes are super in! So are mason jars, but I’m getting off subject.

Here’s my favorite palette gardens, as well as some other thrifty examples on how to create a balcony garden peeps will be talking about until next spring:

Thrifty Knick-Knacks Become Thrifty Household Items

Holy Busy!

Not only, do I work two jobs, but I am a self-admitting workaholic that is currently adding insult to injury by taking on even more projects! The better news is: I found some really THRIFTY ideas.

I’m enthralled with the idea of painting old knick-knacks, do-dads, and toys to make great centerpieces, bookends, and well, redefined knick-knacks.

Here’s a thrifty example brought to you by: Apartment Therapy.

So, many experts say to use latex paint. Apartment Therapy suggests Plasti Dip. Plasti dip is a synthetic rubber coating. It will pretty much change your life.

Here is another great example from CRAFT.

Finally, a nifty pic from P.S.- I made this…

I love creating this post because it truly proves any second hand item has potential.

The Thrifty Mistress Goes Thrifting

I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone of Atlanta, Georgia today. I took the scenic route, grabbed a Chick-fil-a diet lemonade and made my way out to east Georgia. Here is what I found:

A Thrifty Tutorial: Wax Balloons

As promised, here is a TUTORIAL to make the Anthropologie thrifty decor.

Here they are at Anthro:

Here is the tutorial: I’m a neat tutorial.

Thrifty Tip: You’ll need to NOT dip the balloon so far into the wax, the shapes above are half circles. Also, they are fasten to the wall with gold nails.

Good Luck!
